Summary

Thanks to everyone who came to the meeting. I've left the Specialist Handbooks in a box on the desk in the studio; feel free to pick one up next time you do your show.

A number of people said they've had trouble using the computers in the studio. We are getting two new computers in the next couple of weeks, so all I can say now is to hang on in there!

There are also instructions in the studio next to the computer opposite the studio (aka Mike) regarding recording your show. They're fairly self-explanatory, but I'd recommend getting there about 15 minutes early to familiarise yourself with them.

Please contact Steve at audioproduction@xpressradio.co.uk if you'd like a jingle or help making a bed. He can also help you if you're stuck with recording shows.

Meeting on Wednesday

There is a meeting on Wednesday at 5pm in the Bevan room on the 4th floor. We'll be talking about this and that. You can also download a "radio handbook" here. It would also be helpful if you can think of a name for your show and bring it with you to the meeting. See you Wednesday.

Hi all, hope everything is well.

Here is some info with regard to the official radio website;

The website is making positive progress and I'm hoping to have the basic version up within the next few weeks, although it won't be the finished article. Anyway due to the nature of the backend system for now I have to maintain all of the show pages manually, which I'm happy to do as really it will just involve copying and pasting; it will be more time than effort. I'll get on to updating later on though.

CREATING SHOW PAGES

Firstly, if you want a show page on the website (as opposed to just a standard one with show name and times and very little else), I will need you to send me the following information.

Show Name:
Show Time:
Presenter Names:
Producer Name:
Show Description: - This can be as long as you want, although I'd reccommend around 150-250 words max to keep it succinct.
Website Address: (if applicable)
Facebook Group Address: (if applicable)
Desired URL: (i.e. www.xpressradio.co.uk/your-show-name can be all one word or whatever you want, unless its already taken obviously. I can't guarentee this)
A picture or poster for your show:

Also if you are a specialist show if you could send me some names of artists/genres/tracks/whatever that you'll be playing to give people an idea of what they're listening to that would be great.

UPDATING SHOW PAGES

In the short term only I can change your show pages - this is something I'm looking to change in the long term, however for now we'll just have to make do. Every tuesday I come up to xpress and do a few hours of work, so basically if you want your page to be updated or changed please send the changes you want me to make to web@xpressradio.co.uk and I might be able to do it if I have some free time, if not it will definitely be done on tuesdays.

PODCASTS

I am currently working on a system for uploading podcasts and you'll be getting more info about this nearer the time.

Thanks to everyone who came up for an audition this week; we've finally finished! We'll be crafting a schedule together on Friday and emailing it to you all this weekend. Shows start on Monday from 6PM, although they won't be on FM until November, so you'll have a bit of time to get used to all the kit! If anyone needs further training, we will be in touch shortly regarding running a few tutorials for those that want them.

Auditions

Auditions will be this week on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. If your name isn't on the list on the email, please get in touch at specialist@xpressradio.co.uk and we'll fit you in on Thursday.

The auditions will be 15/20 minutes long. Please bring along a CD/tape/MD with five to six songs, as well as a track listing. You will be asked to play some of your tracks and talk on air, but don't be intimidated as we will be there to help you out.

We will then be in touch ASAP with a schedule before Xpress goes on air on the 16th October 2008.

Membership for 08/09

Just to let you know, everyone needs to register with Cardiff Media for the 08/09 year whether or not you were a member last year. Membership costs £10 and you can do it online here.

Auditions/Training

Please send a quick email to specialist@xpressradio.co.uk before Sunday at noon letting us know if you still want to be involved in the Specialist team this year and whether you want an audition/training.

We will then give you more information on Sunday evening regarding when auditions and training will be...sometime next week.
